3 September 1861

This letter was written by Isaac F. R. Hosea, 1st Sergeant of Co. E, 5th Massachusetts Infantry. Isaac was a 28 year-old from Medford, Massachusetts. He later served as a Lieutenant in Co. C, 39th Massachusetts.

S. M. Bragdon, Esq.
Dear sir,

Enclosed please find your discharge from the U. S. Service and if you wish to be discharged from your company, you must make application in writing and I will see you have one.

Lieut. Coleman has $13 belonging to you which you can get by writing or calling on him for.

N. B. Capt. [Hutchins] has not returned from Washington yet.
